Misc Supplies: Water basin, paper towels, and sanding block

Prepping the Tag:

o   Using the #14 brush, paint the tag DecoArt’s Multi Purpose Sealer and let completely dry.
o   Once dry, give it a light sanding and remove any dust.

Background:
I used the Americana Acrylics for the background only. The colors listed for the flower and the rest of the project will be the Media Fluid Acrylics.
o   Load the #14 brush with Snow Titanium White and slip slap the color along the top of the tag at an angle.
o   Rinse the brush and load with Peacock Teal and slip slap the color along the middle section of the tag – again – at an angle.
o   Rinse the brush and load with Bright Blue and slip slap the color along the bottom section of the tag.
o   Rinse the brush and criss cross the flat of the brush where the Snow Titanium White and the Peacock Teal meet. Wipe the brush off often to softly blend where the two colors meet.
o   Rinse the brush and criss cross the flat of the brush where the Peacock Teal and Bright Blue meet. Wipe the brush off often to softly blend where the two colors meet.
o   Wipe the brush off and starting at the top of the tag, using little pressure and a criss cross motion, soften the colors. Wipe the brush off often as you work the way down the tag.
o   Lightly tap the Deerfoot brush where the colors meet to soften the blended colors. You can also use a mop – I’m just partial to this Dynasty Deerfoot brush.
o   Let completely dry.
Load stencil brush with Snow Titanium White and wipe almost all of the paint off on a paper towel. Lay the M2-11 stencil in place and using a circular motion with the brush, stencil here and there. Let dry.

Flower:
o   Load the stamp with ink and then practice stamp on a scrap piece of paper. This will let you know if you have enough ink on the stamp. Reload with ink and stamp flower in place in the bottom left corner.
o   Load the toe on the 3/8" Angle brush with Phthalo Blue and float the color in near the center of the flower. Come up a bit on both sides of the petals.
o   Wipe the brush off and then lightly bring some of the color up on to the petal. Don’t go back down to where the color is the darkest near the center – just where the float stopped.
o   Lightly tap the deerfoot brush where the color stops to soften any line. This will let it fade right into the petal.
o   Let dry.
o   Load the medium Mezzaluna brush with the Titanium White and wipe almost all of it off on a paper towel.
o   Dry brush the white in the center of the peals and in between some of the black petal lines. Switch to the small Mezzaluna to get into those smaller areas if necessary.
o   Load the 3/8" Angle brush with Yellow Green Light and paint the center.
o   Load the toe of the 3/8" Angle brush with Yellow Green Light and Phthalo Blue and shade along the bottom half of the center.
o   Wipe the brush off, reload with Yellow Green Light on the toe and add a touch of Titanium White. Blend on palette – making sure the paint stays on the toe only. Float color along the top of the flower center.
o   Wipe the brush off, load the toe with Phthalo Blue and paint a small “u” in the center.
o   Load the liner brush with Phthalo Blue and paint curved lines coming down from the flower center. Refer to the stamp to see the lines or just improvise. J
o   Load the liner brush with Titanium White and paint small lines for the stamens.
o   Dip the end of the brush handle into the paint and randomly dot the stamens.
o   Load the toe on the Angle brush with Phthalo Blue and shade underneath the petal on the right hand side.
Load the Angle brush with water and dip into the Yellow Green Light. Tap the handle of the brush on top of another brush to add some splatter here and there. Let sit for a minute and then lay a paper towel over the tag and lightly press. This will tone down the splatter and give it more of a stained look than dots. Repeat with Titanium White.

Shine:
o   Load the Shine stamp with ink and then practice stamp on a scrap piece of paper. This will let you know if you have enough ink on the stamp. Reload with ink and stamp the work above the flower.
o   Load the toe of the 3/8" Angle brush with Phthalo Blue and float the color along the inside of the star.
o   Rub the small Mezzaluna brush in the center of the star to pick up some of the blue if it bled too much.

Edge:
o   Load the 3/8" Angle brush with Phthalo Blue and float the color along the edges.
o   Let dry!
o   Run the Staz-On Ink pad around the edges to darken them up just a bit.

Varnish with DecoArt Media Soft-Touch Varnish and let dry.
Add a ribbon of choice to your tag!!

CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE FLOWER TO MAGENTA, WHITE, OR EVEN YELLOW for another variation

Have a great day and Happy Creating!!!
