 Fabric Painting Classes

Had two great fabric painting classes yesterday!!
My friend Donna shared a program through DecoArt and her latest technique with me and I was excited to teach it to my students.  Think I've created some Fabric Painting monsters now!! They LOVED all the designs and painting with the SoSoft paints and using the special pen to outline their designs.
Barb, Sue, Jennifer, Glo, Sherry
Jenny, Lanelle, Pat, Mary and Patty

Gloria came in the evening and we had a great one on one time together painting!!

Donna will have all the supplies on her website soon!!

Here are some of the shirts I painted as examples for my students.

I also PLAYED with DecoArt ink effects ~ they took some practice but OH HOW I enjoyed creating with them!! Made some scarves and shared some designs with students. Plan to do a video to post here - how to on the scroll scarves that I created when I get back from HOOT!

You can watch an ink effects how to video on YouTube to see the process but here it is in a nutshell:
Paint your design on paper - yep plain ole computer paper. OR you can paint right over a coloring book design too! Let it dry 30-45 minutes and then iron it on your fabric. I used a shirt that had some polyester in it and used a special spray for cotton, etc. but it really didn't show up like I had hoped. SO.....I got some infinity scarves from Wal Mart a couple of months ago and when I realized they were polyester - that is what I used! Worked great!! Some places were a bit faint but when the scarf is on you can't really tell and I really liked the difference in colors so left it. I added some liner work with SoSoft paints to the poppies and leaves and love how that turned out as well!

Getting ready for HOOT (Heart Of Ohio Tole Convention)!!! Teaching two classes and super excited but also nervous!  Looking forward to road trippin' with my girlfriends too!! Will share pictures as I can of course!!
Have a wonderful week!

What a fun but busy week of painting, painting and creating!!!

We started the week out with Basic Strokes Art Journaling class - we did glazing and shading techniques on basic strokes and everyone LOVED that!!

Had two new students in my evening class Cheryl & Charlotte and they did a great job on their journal page as did the other ladies!

Friday we painted ROOSTERS

Deborah
Fran

 Glo
Was so good to see Glo again - she had some major eye issues and surgery since May and seeing that she drives 4 HOURS each way to come and paint with me had to take a short break!
Jennifer
She's been attending the Basic Strokes Art Journaling Classes and this was her first wOils class!
She rocked it and I think she even surprised herself!!
 Sherri

Sherri took several classes with me years ago and came back with her cousins this time! She has such an infectious personality and it was great to see her again and meet her cousins!

Vicki

First class - didn't she do great?!!

Cindy

She was a bit hesitant to come and paint but she rocked it too and I think left happy with her painting as she should - it's beautiful!

Lisa
She's asked me for months now to do my rooster painting and wanted the older one I did on the black canvas - so I let her break with tradition and paint it on a larger black canvas. I usually make everyone paint on the same surface/size as it just makes it easier for me to explain as I'm instructing what to do. However, she did a beautiful job and I think is too excited to tuck it away til Christmas to give to her sister and might make it an "early" present! lol

Had a wonderful day teaching my Holiday Workshop - sickness, base furloughs and other events kept it from being the packed house it usually is for this annual event but we had a fabulous time creating and painting today!!

Here are some of the projects we did today in the Holiday Workshop in July!

Have a busy week coming up and then have to get all my stuff ready for the Heart Of Ohio Tole Painters Convention in Ohio!! Super excited to be going again this year and even more excited that I will be teaching a couple of projects!! :D

Have a blessed day!

What an AWESOME ~ FABULOUS ~ GIRLY FUN WEEK

I've had with these amazing young ladies in my Teens Art Week classes I designed and taught at Hobby Lobby this week!!!

We painted, glittered, clayed, glued, painted some more, ate lots of chocolate each day, talked a little - was an awesome group but quiet - they were so busy creating and painting and eating chocolate that we had very little time to talk - lol

I even face painted a few of them - B ~ sorry we didn't get another picture with you and your butterfly! urgh!

Rachel finished her project early so she created this clay Despicable ME character out of clay from a picture I brought her. She did an amazing job didn't she - with no help from anyone!

Old Weathered Mill wOils Workshop

I took a class this past February at Vegas Paints Convention with Dorothy Dent and we painted a mill that is actually located right here in Georgia. I wanted to share with my students the techniques I learned to paint a mill, water, etc. so decided to find a mill and design a landscape of my own to teach them.  I love the way this turned out and love what an awesome job everyone did on theirs!  We painted them with wOils on an 18x18 canvas.

 English Cottage Landscape Painting Class

Last week we had a wonderful class painting an English Cottage Landscape! I used to paint thatched roof cottages all the time on ornaments and giftware when I lived in England and haven't painted them much since living back in the states so decided it was time to teach my students how to paint them too.

She had to leave early so took hers home to finish it up!

Makes me miss the quaint villages we lived in while in England. The first time, we lived in a 14th century coach house that had a beautiful garden in the back and was perfect for our family! We had great landlords that lived in a 5,000 sq.ft. pepto bismol colored house with an indoor swimming pool and full tennis courts. Right next to their house was a 12th century church that had no electricity and during the winter months they used candles to light the services! Loved walking around the cemetery by the church and seeing all the very weathered but beautiful headstones.

The second time we lived in an 1850's farm house smack dab in the middle of fields that were owned and gardened by the Rothschilds. No gardens with this home but the backyard was huge and it was the next village over from where we lived before which meant our kids would be in school with their friends from our first time in England.

As much as I loved living in England - I'm thrilled with where we've been these last 8 years (the longest we've ever lived anywhere)! Love being closer to family and not having to pack our stuff up and move house again!

Hope you have a blessed day!
